Babilée 91 60 minutes, 1992 At the age of 23, legendary dancer Jean Babilée created Cocteau’s ballet The Young Man and Death. Thirty-five years later, he performed Maurice Béjart’s Life. Babilée is an attentive and respectful film in which William Klein films the dancer in his everyday world—his kitchen, the streets of Paris—as he works… The film’s intimate nature also reveals a Klein reflecting on the passage of time, with Babilée, somewhat like himself, an indefatigable dancer looking back on the body of work he will leave behind.
