To mark the exhibition Photography in All Its Letters, this family workshop invites participants to focus on urban typography during a photo walk near the MEP. Exploring the city in search of letters offers countless opportunities to sharpen our eyes, experiment with new perspectives, and gain a practical understanding of framing, light, and graphic composition. Rather than photographing letters already displayed on signs, billboards, or shop windows, participants will look for shapes resembling letters of the alphabet in the urban environment—from architecture, street furniture, everyday objects, markings, and other city details. This playful approach encourages us to see our surroundings differently and uncover the letters hidden in the shapes all around us. The children and their parents will then be invited to create a word by combining images from their collection of vowels and consonants. To form this word, they will create a graphic composition from the photographs gathered by the group and explore their creativity through surprising visual arrangements. This workshop offers families a fresh perspective on the city. Together, we will explore the close connections and influences between words and images in our understanding of the world around us.
