Discover the 2026 list of Blue Flag beaches and marinas! Published on June 2, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

384 beaches, 100 marinas, and 1 boat are authorized to fly the Blue Flag this summer, in recognition of their environmental commitment. The list of the 485 labeled sites across France was published in May on the Blue Flag website. For vacationers in particular, this label helps identify places where a tourism policy respectful of the environment and human health is implemented.

The beaches awarded the Blue Flag label in 2026 are located in 182 municipalities along the coastlines, as well as on the shores of lakes and rivers.

The Occitanie and Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions together account for 232 sites, representing nearly half of the total number of beaches and ports labeled in France. As last year, Occitanie tops the rankings with 102 beaches and 18 ports, totaling 120 sites. With 112 winners, the Sud region follows closely in the standings: 85 beaches and 27 ports will be able to hoist the blue flag this summer. In third place, Nouvelle-Aquitaine records 52 labeled sites: 48 beaches, 4 ports, and 1 boat.

In total, 384 beaches, 100 marinas, and 1 boat received the Blue Flag label in 2026. These coastal and inland sites are distinguished for having worked at the territorial level to promote tourism that is more respectful of the environment, ecosystems, and human health.

The year 2026 also marks the arrival of nine new labeled sites: the ports of Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune, Nevers, Charleville-Mézières, Buzet-sur-Baïse, the Old Ports of Golfe Juan and Jacques Yves Cousteau in Castelsarrasin, as well as beaches in the municipalities of Le Tréport, Carqueiranne, and Saint-Symphorien-de-Thénières.

France ranks among the top 5 countries with the highest number of labeled sites worldwide.

Since 2024, boats have been eligible for the Blue Flag label; it is intended for vessels in fleets managed by companies offering tourist excursion and nature observation activities.

To obtain the label, a facility must meet various criteria related notably to water and sanitation, waste management, and responsible practices regarding wildlife.

Labeled Blue Flag since 2024, the catamaran Atalaya by Explore Océan, based in the port of Hendaye, offers sea trips dedicated to cetacean observation.

What are the criteria?

Obtaining the label is subject to various criteria falling under the following 9 themes:

  • water and sanitation;

  • biodiversity and natural environment management;

  • waste management;

  • training/education for sustainable development;

  • equipment and services;

  • user information;

Once labeled, each winner commits to respecting the terms and conditions of use of the label. Control visits are carried out during the tourist season to ensure proper compliance with the criteria.

Blue Flag is an annual label. It is awarded solely for the current year. No municipality or port may claim the Blue Flag if it is not a winner of the year.
