Sexually Transmitted Infections: Free At-Home Testing for Young Men Published on June 9, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister's Office)
Since May 29, 2026, men aged 18 to 25 have been able to order an at-home STI screening kit, fully covered by Health Insurance, through the "Mon test IST" scheme.
Already offered to women of the same age since 2025, an at-home STI screening kit, fully covered by Health Insurance, is now also available to men aged 18 to 25, as well as transgender and non-binary individuals in this age group.
The kit allows screening for two infections:
How to use the at-home STI screening kit?
To undergo this screening, simply order the kit on the website: mon-test-ist.ameli.fr. After completing an eligibility questionnaire (age, sexual activity, social security number...), the kit is sent within approximately 7 days (excluding weekends and public holidays) in a neutral envelope to the chosen address.
The sample must be collected via self-sampling:

urine sample for men;
-
vaginal sample for women;
-
depending on the situation for transgender individuals.
The sample is then returned to the laboratory using the provided envelope.
Results are available on average within 5 days on the mesanalyses.fr website. An SMS notification informs you when they are ready. In case of a positive result, a medical consultation with a healthcare professional (doctor, midwife) is required, either in a hospital setting or at a free information, screening, and diagnosis center (CeGIDD).
The test should not be performed during periods of high heat (temperature above 33 °C).
Simplified access to screening
The "Mon test IST" scheme also enables screening without a prescription or prior laboratory appointment for several STIs (HIV, chlamydia, gonococcus, syphilis, hepatitis B). For those under 26, coverage is 100%. For those aged 26 and over, HIV testing is free, while other tests are reimbursed at 60%.
