University Start of Term: Applications for Crous Housing Are Open Published on June 9, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Are you a student wishing to apply for Crous housing for next year? Discover the schedule for the 2026-2027 intake campaign.

To apply for Crous housing (Regional Center for University and School Works), you must have completed a Student Social Dossier (DSE) and checked the box requesting housing. As a reminder, the Student Social Dossier had to be submitted no later than May 31, 2026.
The application for Crous housing takes place in two phases, via the platform trouverunlogement.lescrous.fr:
-
Main phase from May 5 to June 29 (primarily intended for scholarship holders; not open to international students).
-
Complementary phase starting July 7 (open to all students, both scholarship and non-scholarship holders, national and international).
Housing Allocation Schedule
Main Phase During this phase, the selection criteria are the same as those used to calculate scholarships: the student's and their parents' income, family composition, and geographical distance from the family home. Applications are processed according to the ranking based on the social index, depending on demand and the accommodation capacity of the residences.
This phase now includes three allocation cycles, and you can submit up to 10 preferences per cycle, either in the same city or in different cities. After each round, you can modify your preferences to better align them with your orientation results. You must re-validate your list of preferences to participate in the next round.
Dates for the main phase cycles:
-
1st cycle Preference submission: from May 5 to May 31 Reservation confirmation: from June 2 at 6:00 PM to June 7 at 11:59 PM
-
2nd cycle Preference submission: from June 9 at 10:00 AM to June 15 at 10:00 AM Reservation confirmation: from June 16 at 6:00 PM to June 21 at 11:59 PM
-
3rd cycle Preference submission: from June 23 at 10:00 AM to June 29 at 10:00 AM Reservation confirmation: from June 30 at 6:00 PM to July 5 at 11:59 PM
Complementary Phase The platform is accessible to all students starting July 7 to view remaining available housing offers. New offers are posted throughout the summer based on departures and cancellations.
You will be notified by SMS and email when housing is allocated. Remember to check the email address you provided on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr. If housing is allocated to you, you have 5 days to confirm your choice.
What should you do once Crous housing has been allocated to you?
-
To validate your admission to the residence, you must pay a rent advance of €70 (at the end of the allocation cycle for those admitted during the main phase). This advance will be deducted from your first rent payment. If you receive several housing offers but are not yet sure of your final study location, you can confirm multiple offers (by paying the advance for each). Once decided, you can ask the Crous to cancel the excess reservations and be reimbursed for the overpayment.
-
You will need to complete an online rental file including: the signed house rules;
-
the joint guarantee contract provided to you, duly completed and signed by the third-party guarantor or the guarantee certificate from the guarantee organization (example: Visale guarantee);
-
payment of the security deposit equivalent to one month's rent;
-
proof of insurance against rental risks (fire, water damage, civil liability).
Upon moving into the residence, you will be asked for:
-
payment of the first rent (minus the advance already paid);
-
your student card or a certificate of enrollment for the academic year for which the housing was obtained.
In regions under high pressure, students are advised to choose residences slightly further from city centers and university campuses, or residences with high housing capacity. You will need to rank your applications in order of preference. When allocating housing, if indices are equal, this order will be taken into account.
