Livret A: What regulations apply to the deposit ceiling? Published on April 25, 2025 - Updated on May 27, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)

A Livret A allows you to grow your savings securely and benefit from interest that is exempt from income tax and social contributions. Service Public reminds you of the current rules regarding the Livret A deposit ceiling.

You can open a Livret A whether you are a minor or an adult; it can be opened at any bank (most online banks also offer this regulated savings product).

The minimum deposit amount for a Livret A is €10 (€1.5 if you opened your Livret A at La Banque postale). There is no requirement for periodic deposits. You can deposit or withdraw money at any time.

When your Livret A reaches the regulatory ceiling, set at €22,950, you can no longer make deposits. However, the interest generated each year continues to be added even beyond this ceiling, without limit, as long as your account remains open.

Accumulated interest is added to your Livret A capital on December 31st each year. This interest is exempt from income tax and social contributions.

You can find all the details about the Livret A on our practical guide.
