Reusable menstrual products to be reimbursed from the start of the academic year Published on April 28, 2026 - Service Public / Direction de l'information légale et administrative (Premier ministre)

At the start of the next university year, reusable menstrual products will be fully or partially reimbursed for all women under 26 and for beneficiaries of the Complémentaire santé solidaire (C2S). Service Public explains.

Adopted as part of the 2024 social security financing law, coverage for reusable menstrual products will apply to all women under 26 (with no means-testing) and to beneficiaries of the Complémentaire santé solidaire (C2S), with no age condition. This measure will take effect at the start of the 2026 university year.

Decree No. 2026-288 published in the Journal officiel of April 18, 2026 limits reimbursable products to two categories:

  • menstrual cups;

  • menstrual underwear.

Coverage will be limited to two products per year . The count will start on the date of the first purchase and will renew “date to date.”

Assurance maladie will reimburse between 55% and 65% for women under 26, with any remaining out-of-pocket cost potentially covered by your supplementary health insurance. However, purchases will be fully covered for beneficiaries of the Complémentaire santé solidaire.

Coverage for menstrual underwear and cups is conditional on dispensing exclusively by a community pharmacy.
