The certificate of good character is an official document guaranteeing that a person has no conviction recorded in a criminal record or in the automated judicial file of perpetrators of sexual and violent offences (FIJAISV) that would prevent them from working with minors. The steps to obtain it are completed via a dedicated platform according to your status.
It has been mandatory since October 2025 for all professionals and volunteers working in the field of child protection and early childhood care (childminders, family assistants, professionals and volunteers in nurseries, homes, etc.). Since February 1, 2026, it has also been mandatory for people entering an adoption procedure.
The scheme will be gradually extended in 2027 to professionals and volunteers working in an establishment or service supporting adults with disabilities, then in 2028 to professionals and volunteers working with older people.
Rollout for staff supporting children with disabilities The government is continuing its work to protect the most vulnerable by extending the scheme to people working in an establishment or service supporting children with disabilities . 6 regions have just introduced the requirement:

In the first quarter of 2027, the scheme will be gradually extended to professionals and volunteers working in an establishment or service supporting adults with disabilities, then in 2028 to professionals and volunteers working with older people.
