Ephemeral installation as part of Fiesta, 7th edition of lille3000
The "Traveling Words" are graphic, linguistic, and poetic journeys inviting us to discover the contributions of other cultures to our common language. A celebration of the blending of the French language, based on words that have come from elsewhere and traveled before being considered French, shared by all, putting into practice the idea of Tout Monde by the poet and writer from Martinique, Édouard Glissant. TISSER_MÉTISSER is a forest of kakemonos created around the Treasure of the "Traveling Words," composed of about a hundred typographic creations by graphic designers, artists, graffiti artists, typographers, and contributions from the residents of Roubaix in 2023. The work that took shape at the end of these workshops was presented in the inner courtyard of the Condition Publique before joining the collections of Frac Grand Large. For Fiesta, its 7th thematic edition, lille3000 invites artists to reactivate their piece, adapted to the theme and space of the Halles de Wazemmes with a selection of words rooted in festive and culinary cultures from elsewhere. The "Traveling Words" Collective at the Condition Publique was composed of Malte Martin/Agrafmobile and Structure Bâtons, accompanied by Charlotte Attal, Margot Laforge, and Hugo Sandevoir. "Traveling Words" is an artistic project initiated by Malte Martin, graphic designer and plastic artist, in various formats since 2018 in La Courneuve, Belleville-Paris, Roubaix. ------------- Installation visible in the Halles de Wazemmes as part of Fiesta, 7th edition of lille3000 (access according to opening hours)
