Following its first edition, Sound Rising returns with a decidedly activist new lineup, welcoming La Phaze for an evening where Punk meets Drum & Bass! SoundRising is turning 13, and that calls for a celebration!! Following the first edition marking the label’s 10th anniversary at the Salle des fêtes du grand parc, Sound Rising returns with a decidedly activist new lineup, welcoming La Phaze for an evening where Punk meets Drum & Bass! La Phaze is a French band from Angers, founded in 1999 by Damny Baluteau (keyboards, machines, vocals) and Arnaud Fournier (guitar, brass, backing vocals). Their style, pungle (punk + jungle), blends dub, ragga, hip-hop, and drum and bass to create a unique signature sound. Their first EP, Cushy Time, was released in 2001, followed by Pungle Roads (2002), featuring the track “RAS,” which denounces the far right. In 2003, Punglistic Mixture, a compilation of remixes created with the French electronic scene, cemented their hybrid style. Nevrax’s departure in 2008 coincided with a shift toward a more rock-punk sound influenced by Bérurier Noir. The album Miracle tackles topics such as war, the climate crisis, and euthanasia, and features guests including Keny Arkana and Eugene Hütz (Gogol Bordello). A two-and-a-half-year world tour followed (180 concerts). Psalms and Revolution was released in 2011, exploring new textures. In 2012, the band announced its breakup. La Phaze reunited in 2017 with Speaker Louis (machines, bass, backing vocals) and released the music video “Sourire au teint de glace.” In 2020, the album VISIBLE(S) marked their return, followed by Pungle Generation (2023), a compilation celebrating their journey. A new album is planned for early 2026. With a career spanning more than 20 years, La Phaze embodies a powerful fusion of electronic music, punk, and dub, with remarkable live energy and unwavering sociopolitical commitment. The band is an essential pillar of the French alternative scene. — Speaker Louis, bassist for the evening’s headline band and signed to Jungle Cake, the biggest ragga jungle label in history, will close out the night with a Drum & Bass DJ set!! — Deeply shaped by influences from across the Atlantic, from Chess Records and Motown to Jon Spencer and Jack White, and ranging from speed boogie and mutant blues to raw ballads and soul rock’n’roll, King Kong Blues will get your knees moving and your little hearts pounding with their high-energy rhythms and hooks! Since 2015, the Bordeaux trio has played more than 300 shows and toured throughout Europe, from Slovakia to Portugal. 📍 Salle des Fêtes du Grand Parc, Bordeaux 📅 Saturday, October 3, 2026 - 7:30 p.m. 🎟️ Early-bird tickets available... 💥 €18 at the door / €15 in advance / €13 with the "youth card" rate 👉 Organized by: SoundRising
