Open Wednesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Under soul or over soul is an exhibition designed for Lasécu. It brings together more than a hundred works in both small and large formats, as well as objects painted, assembled, repaired, crafted, and altered by time and the elements. The exhibition will include large works on paper, small icons, and Les ruines, a large-format work on canvas. On September 18 and 19, come to the shop to discover the outcome of the projects carried out by Lasécu and Temps Lib' for the European Heritage Days! Didier Mahieu was born in St-Ghislain in 1961. Trained at the Ecole supérieure des Arts Plastiques et Visuels in Mons, he served there as head of the painting studio from 1999 to 2024. His drawing and painting, rooted in the work of the Old Masters, remain the starting point for developing a personal mythology—an intimate story of the sacred, time, disappearance, and metamorphosis. In his large installations, drawings, paintings, sounds, photographs, films, and objects examine today’s world from a “geopoetic” perspective. He revisits, tends to, repairs, and transcends works that have already had a life. He accepts them together with everything they carry—the scars left by the world that came before. History is written on the same surface; the page is never blank. His works are held in several public collections.
