At Liberation, two martial courts sit in Béziers and Montpellier from August 30 to September 14, 1944. Before these jurisdictions of the French Forces of the Interior, the accused are prosecuted for committing the crime of treason-collaboration. During this conference, Pierre Maraval will answer three questions: why were these military jurisdictions established? How do they operate? What is their record? Pierre Maraval holds a doctorate in law and is a lawyer. He has been working for several decades on the history of the repression of Collaboration at Liberation (1944-1945) within the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal of Montpellier. This event is linked to the exhibition "Living Through War in Hérault, 1939-1945" presented at Pierresvives from November 20, 2025, to May 9, 2026. Free entry. Open to all.
