Sumi-e is a form of traditional Japanese painting. "Sumi" means black ink and "e" means painting. This technique is used to draw with Japanese ink (sumi) flowers, animals, landscapes, etc.
Along with the orchid, chrysanthemum, and plum, bamboo is one of the plants symbolizing a season known as the "four gentlemen." In this workshop, you will learn to paint bamboo, an ideal motif for beginners. You will discover the basic techniques of sumi-e, as well as the spirit of zen. Models will be provided to assist you. Rei, a teacher at the Japanese Academy of Sumi-e Paris, has been teaching for ten years. Her workshops are suitable for both experienced and beginner artists, allowing everyone to progress at their own pace.
