Come discover the exhibition of our scholarship artist as part of the 5th Floor Scholar Series at the Fondation des Etats-Unis!
As part of the 5th Floor Scholar Series, artist Katya Vaz, a Fulbright–HHW scholar, presents an exhibition exploring rivers as places of borders and identities, through a dialogue between the Seine and the Mississippi. This series of works examines the role of a river in an urban setting, particularly the Parisian Seine, highlighting our relationship with the built environment. It questions our own notions of comfort and quality of life within a city, while addressing the unexpected consequences of the very infrastructures that make urban life possible. By controlling the natural functions of the Seine, much of Paris remains vulnerable to flooding.
