Seven photographers from the emerging French and Swedish art scenes will have participated in a workshop with Sophie Ristelhueber, laureate of the 2025 Hasselblad Prize, before being brought together in this exhibition space. Where fragments of the world are shared.
The exhibition brings together seven contemporary artists: Marguerite Bornhauser (France), Theo Elias (Sweden), Tom Hallgren (Sweden), Salad Hilowle (Sweden), Massao Mascaro (France), Iris Millot (France) and Ela Polkowska (Sweden). Coming from varied contexts and horizons, they share a common desire: to show something authentic, rooted in reality – an experience, a presence, a fragment of the observed world. Their diverse practices explore the potential of the photographic medium with particular attention paid to the materiality of the image, while also opening up, for some, to expanded forms close to installation or sculpture. Each, through their own language, directs their gaze toward human realities, intimate or collective. Together, their works compose a space of resonances where narratives intersect, respond to one another, and enrich each other. Beyond the encounter with the works in the exhibition space, the project gives essential importance to exchanges between the artists. Brought together for four days at the Swedish Institute, they will have previously participated in a workshop designed as a research laboratory, led by French photographer Sophie Ristelhueber, laureate of the 2025 Hasselblad Prize. This time of work and collective reflection opens a space for experimentation where practices confront each other, transform, and renew themselves. Thus, the exhibition is as much about showing as it is about activating: it brings forth a network of relations made of inspiration, collaboration, and transmission.
