Imagine being given the secret to winning any election—that’s the premise of this play.
Two scientists from the Groupe Interdisciplinaire de Recherche pour l’Accession aux Fonctions Électorales (GIRAFE) claim to have found a method that, if followed to the letter, can win any election. With little concern for ethics, they give an audience of future candidates (the public) all the tools they need to run a successful campaign. Drawing on the leading political figures of our time, they answer the questions every candidate must ask if they hope to win: How do you develop a good platform? How do you make conflict disappear? How do you communicate effectively? How do you speak when you have nothing to say? And finally, the most important and difficult question of all: How can you always be right—even when you’re wrong?
