The evolution of garden and public space development practices in the heart of an old neighborhood.
October 29 at 10:30 AM: Plant Transformations of a Historic Neighborhood: From the Banks of the Seine to Hôtel de Ville
The former city hall of the 4th arrondissement, Académie du Climat is a place of experimentation, information, and documentation about climate change and its impact on daily life and biodiversity, primarily in urban environments. Also, by exploring the surrounding areas, we will discover that this historic neighborhood is gradually transforming to provide solutions to these challenges, through various interconnected projects: an urban forest in Hôtel de Ville Square, a cool island that forms a link with the surrounding tree-lined streets and gardens. The tour continues with the development of Rives de Seine Park across 10 hectares in the heart of the City, promoting sports activities and soft mobility, and finally, the creation of a memorial garden in honor of the victims of November 13, 2015, in front of Saint-Gervais-Saint-Protais Church, a space of remembrance and also for welcoming birds, evoking the souls of the departed through a carefully chosen and varied plant palette, bird baths set in stone hollows and nesting boxes in the trees.
