Discover Day of the Dead, a Mexican celebration that honors life and memory.
On the occasion of the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France, the Mexican publishing house Trilce, the Embassy of Mexico in France, and the City of Paris invite you to discover the exhibition 'Day of the Dead: A Celebration of Life,' from October 28 to December 15, on the gates of the main entrance of Buttes-Chaumont Park, place Roger-Madec (formerly place Armand-Carrel), facing the town hall of the 19th arrondissement. ; Credits: ALAMY Day of the Dead is one of the most emblematic traditions of Mexican culture. Born from the encounter between pre-Hispanic cosmovisions and religious practices introduced during the colonial period, it has become a vibrant celebration that takes different forms depending on the region and community, around November 2.
Inspired by the eponymous book, the exhibition offers a journey through this diversity: craftsmanship, altars, offerings, flowers, gastronomy, music, dances, costumes, masks, parades, and processions showcase the many ways to welcome and celebrate the deceased.
Through a selection of images, objects, and testimonies, the exhibition highlights the richness of this living heritage.
Far more than a celebration of death, Day of the Dead celebrates life, memory, and the bonds that unite the living with those who came before them.
We invite you to come discover this exhibition
