The Muséum invites you on a new adventure exploring the domestication of animals and plants, its history, and its consequences for biodiversity. Temporary exhibition at the Muséum de Toulouse from October 17, 2025, to July 5, 2026 For more than 10,000 years, human communities have domesticated species useful to them, from dogs and horses to grains and other cultivated plants. Everyone knows and uses the word domestication, but what does it really mean? Exploring domestication means delving into a long and complex history during which plants and animals have been profoundly altered to meet our needs. Bringing together perspectives from the natural sciences, ethnology, archaeology, history, genetics, and more, the exhibition examines our practices and provides insights into our past, sheds light on our present, and imagines possible futures. It was designed to spark everyone’s curiosity, from children to adults and from experts to newcomers. An exhibition produced by the Muséum de Toulouse. This exhibition has been recognized by the French government (Ministry of Culture) as being of national interest and, as such, has received exceptional financial support.
