Masterpieces from the musée d'Archéologie nationale This exhibition illustrates the encounter between two cultures – Gallic and Roman – and the birth of a rich, complex society. It traces the daily life, beliefs, and religious practices of the inhabitants of Gaul after the Roman conquest led by Julius Caesar. It also offers a fresh look at the birth of "Gallo-Roman" archaeology in the 19th century, driven by Emperor Napoléon III. FREE ADMISSION ON JUNE 12, 13 AND 14 This exhibition is the result of a dual partnership: with the Musée de la Romanité, which created the exhibition in Nîmes, and with the musée d’Archéologie nationale, which provides its scientific curation and whose masterpieces are being presented in Toulouse for the first time. Two free playful activities are offered to families at the start of the exhibition visit: Saucix chez les Romains (ages 3-6): the young wild boar Saucix has decided to leave his forest and become a real Roman! To do this, he needs to collect objects throughout his route through the exhibition. Children are invited to help him. Investigation booklet (ages 7 and up): children will discover objects that belonged to different people who lived in Roman Gaul. By carrying out the investigation in the exhibition, they will be able to return the objects to the right people. .....
