From August 28 to 30, Lille Métropole Tennis de Table is organizing Stage 1 of the Champions League at the Micheline Ostermeyer Complex.
LMTT will begin the 2026-2027 season with strengthened sports ambitions, both nationally and internationally. After several seasons marked by a notable presence in the Europe Cup, the club is taking a new step by being entrusted by the ETTU with organizing Stage 1 of the Champions League. This designation represents genuine recognition of the quality of work carried out by LMTT and its ability to organize high-level international events. It represents a step above the Europe Cup and comes with more demanding requirements in terms of sports, logistics, and media. From August 28 to 30, 2026, the Micheline Ostermeyer Complex will host the entire first phase of the Champions League. Over three days, 16 men's teams, divided into 4 groups, will compete for their qualification for the rest of the competition, offering the metropolitan public a world-class sporting spectacle. To meet its new ambitions, LMTT strengthened its roster with the arrival, in summer 2026, of two internationally renowned players: Andrej Gacina (Croatia, world #57) and Rarès Sipos (Romania, world #175). They join an already competitive group made up of Fabio Rakotoarimanana (Madagascar, world #206), Romain Brard (France, world #213), and Nosshad Alamiyan Hodaei (Iran, world #287). These signings illustrate the club's desire to establish itself durably among European references and to showcase the colors of the Lille metropolis at the highest level. This event will help strengthen the metropolis's appeal, promote table tennis to the general public and young members, while generating significant sports, economic, and media impacts for the region.
