"Patrícia", documentary by Aude Chevalier Beaumel 96 minutes / France, Brazil 2026 / Produced by Chuck Productions / Supported by the ICC Creation Aid Fund In Rio de Janeiro, Patrícia is a single mother of 5 children, a grandmother, and has always been an independent sex worker. At 45, she faces the challenges of her profession related to her age. While trying to guide her daughters towards a different path than hers, Patrícia falls back into the vice of cocaine, and everything seems to slip away from her: her health, the balance of her family, and the future of her children. Aude Chevalier Beaumel was born in France in 1982. She studied at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier. In 2000, she discovered Brazil and settled in Rio de Janeiro in 2007. The country became her field of documentary experimentation. Her first film follows the wake of young people killed by police bullets. In 2019, she documents the daily life of Indianara, a transgender activist trying to resist the government. The eponymous film was selected at Acide Cannes in 2019 and won numerous awards. The project “Patrícia” began in 2021. This documentary, produced by the Montpellier-based company Chuck Productions, is supported by the ICC Creation Aid Fund of Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole, the Occitanie Region, and the CNC. Launched in 2022, the fund aims to encourage the emergence of talent and support the local image sector. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.
