Artist Sina Abedi presents Unattainable Gardens, an installation of one hundred bas-reliefs inspired by Persian gardens, at the Salon des Beaux-Arts.
Unattainable Gardens is a floor installation by artist Sina Abedi: one hundred distinct 20 × 20 cm bas-reliefs, arranged in a 10 × 10 grid to form a 200 × 200 cm artwork. Presented at the Salon des Beaux-Arts 2026, the installation is on view at the Orangerie du Sénat in the Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris. Inspired by the Persian concept of pairi-daeza—the enclosure, the original garden from which the word “paradise” derives—the work draws on the memory of a first woven garden: a Persian rug spread beneath the artist’s cradle in Ispahan. Each bas-relief is a self-contained fragment; together, they form an abstract garden, both present and untouchable, echoing Rilke’s words: “Sing, my heart, of the gardens you do not know.” Born in Ispahan, Sina Abedi is an artist, doctor of architecture, researcher, and cultural entrepreneur who lives and works in Paris. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure d'architecture de Versailles with a doctorate in architecture from Université Paris-Est, he is an associate researcher at IPRAUS (ENSA Paris-Belleville). Founder of Gondishapour, he designs and supports projects at the intersection of visual arts, literature, music, and research, and serves on the board of the Fondation Nationale des Beaux-Arts.
