For this month of documentary 'against the current', and echoing today's youth mobilizations, GREC presents a screening of debut documentaries by young filmmakers with singular perspectives, who share their different paths, their desire for another world, their dreams of elsewhere.
From Chatila by Antoine Laurent (documentary, 44 min, 2018) - Tarek, Sobhe and Jalal are Palestinian refugees born in Chatila in the 1980s. They created a school support center and a nursery there. They are convinced that while waiting to return to Palestine, a citizen life is possible within the camps. Heimat by Maële Loreau (documentary, 19 min, 2025) - in the presence of the filmmaker - In the heart of an apocalyptic Essonne, two young women from Essonne try to escape by seeking a safe place. They then see, 1,200 km away, a carnival, a collective force of resistance that inspires them. The Pirates Dream Too by Camille Roux (documentary, 19 min, 2023) - in the presence of the filmmaker - I decide to follow the daily lives of a group of seasonal agricultural workers in Corsica and make a film about it. Nothing happens as I had imagined.
