Sometimes, tax deadlines may fall on a weekend or a public holiday. What happens in such cases? Entreprendre Service Public explains.
Payments or direct debits for taxes, duties, levies, or fees have a due date. This is the latest date by which a payment or debit must be made. This date may fall on a Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday.
Article 199-0 of the General Tax Code states that when this occurs, the payment or debit date is postponed to the next working day : titleContent following the original due date.
If a payment deadline falls on a Saturday, the payment can be made until the following Monday.
If a debit is scheduled before a Wednesday that happens to be a public holiday, the deadline will be moved to Thursday.
