Fuel Price Increase: Exceptional Support for Transport Companies Published on April 22, 2026 - Entreprendre Service Public / Direction de l'information légale et administrative (Premier ministre)
In response to the increase in fuel prices, the decree of April 17 introduces exceptional assistance for road transport companies.

Exceptional assistance, capped at €60,000 per company, has been created for transport companies to address the rise in fuel prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
Who is eligible for this fuel price assistance?
This assistance applies to road transport companies established in France and employing fewer than 1,000 employees.
These companies must have as their main activity the public transport of goods, collective passenger transport, or medical transport (excluding taxis).
Vehicles eligible for the assistance are vehicles belonging to category M2: titleContent or M3: titleContent, ambulances and light medical vehicles, and vehicles belonging to category N: titleContent or M1: titleContent.
As of March 1, 2026, these vehicles must be:

owned by the company receiving the assistance or leased by it (under a long-term rental agreement or lease-purchase agreement);

used for public road transport by the company receiving the assistance;
-
compliant with the requirements of the regulations on technical inspections.
Companies with unpaid tax or social security debts as of December 31, 2024 are not eligible for the assistance.
Unless those debts:
-
have been paid;
-
are covered by a payment plan;
-
are less than or equal to €1,500.
What is the amount of assistance granted?
The amount granted varies from one company to another. This amount is equal to the sum of the products, by vehicle category, of the number of vehicles operated by the company.

Road freight transport carrier vehicles with a maximum authorized laden weight (PTAC) equal to or greater than 26 tonnes

Which companies can receive assistance of less than 5,000 euros?
Companies that have obtained a payment extension for their social security contributions from the Union de recouvrement des cotisations de sécurité sociale et d’allocation familiale are eligible for assistance of less than €5,000.
How can companies receive assistance of more than 5,000 euros?
Companies eligible for assistance of more than €5,000 are those whose “gross operating surplus to revenue” ratio is less than or equal to 5% over the last two financial years closed before March 31, 2026.
Where can this assistance be requested?
Applications for this assistance will be submitted to the Agence de services et de paiement via a platform that will open very soon.
