MaPrimeRénov': Certain Renovation Projects Soon Excluded from the Program Published on February 23, 2026 - Updated on August 27, 2026 - Service Public / Department of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
The aid provided via MaPrimeRénov' for major renovation work on a home will no longer be available in certain cases, starting from September 1st. Service Public presents the changes to this aid designed for energy renovation of your home.

MaPrimeRénov' is a government aid divided into 2 main pathways:
-
MaPrimeRénov' Gesture-by-gesture Pathway, if you wish to carry out one or more insulation, ventilation, heating, etc. work;
-
MaPrimeRénov' Supported Pathway, if you plan major renovation work.
These programs are accessible to homeowners, whether they live in the property undergoing energy renovation or offer it for rent.
There is a third MaPrimeRénov' pathway, designed for co-owners, for the renovation of common areas as well as for work of collective interest in private areas.
From September 1st, 2026, the MaPrimeRénov' aid for major renovation work will no longer be available if gas heating is retained after the work. This evolution of the MaPrimeRénov' program, which concerns renovation work carried out in single-family homes, is part of the government's electrification plan.
In this document, it is clarified that this measure will make it possible to "prioritize the most virtuous projects to move away from fossil fuels"; it also states that this "aims to avoid funding renovations that perpetuate household dependence on gas, and thus expose them to future fluctuations in gas prices".
The MaPrimeRénov' Gesture-by-gesture Pathway also changes. From September 1st, you will no longer be able to benefit from this aid to install:
-
independent heating or domestic hot water supply equipment running on wood or other biomass;
-
a heat pump dedicated to domestic hot water production;
-
a ventilation system;
-
heating equipment;
-
domestic hot water supply equipment running on solar thermal energy or with hybrid solar collectors (except in Overseas territories, where it will still be possible to benefit from MaPrimeRénov' Gesture-by-gesture Pathway for the installation of this type of equipment);
-
heating equipment running on solar thermal energy or with hybrid solar collectors.
Thermal insulation work is also excluded from September 1st from the MaPrimeRénov' Gesture-by-gesture Pathway aid (insulation of roof slopes, attic ceilings, flat roofs, etc.).
