Solidarity Rent Reduction: 2026 Amounts Published on May 20, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate for Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Are you a tenant in social housing? You may be eligible for the solidarity rent reduction if you meet certain income conditions. The level of the reduction, which depends notably on the number of people living in your household, has changed in 2026. Service Public provides the current amounts and details of this scheme.

The solidarity rent reduction (RLS) is housing assistance aimed at the most vulnerable households. The scheme consists of a rent reduction, the amount of which varies depending on:
-
the composition of your household;
-
the geographical zone where your home is located.
To benefit from the RLS, you must reside in HLM (social housing) accommodation or accommodation managed by a mixed-economy company that qualifies for personalized housing assistance (APL). However, you can benefit from the solidarity rent reduction whether or not you receive APL.
Residential care homes (logements-foyers), as well as housing located in overseas departments and collectivities, are excluded from the scheme.
What are the 2026 RLS amounts?
An order dated December 23, 2025, sets the amounts for the solidarity rent reduction applicable since January 1, 2026 (following an increase in amounts on June 1, 2025).
The amount of your RLS depends notably on the geographical zone (1, 1 bis, 2, or 3) applicable to your home; to find out which zone applies, you can use our simulator.
Table - Solidarity rent reduction amounts as of January 1, 2026 Number of people living in the home
Monthly amount of the solidarity rent reduction
A couple with no dependents
A single person or a couple with 1 dependent
A single person or a couple with 2 dependents
Amount to add per additional dependent
If you live alone, to benefit from the RLS, your monthly income must not exceed:
-
€970 if you live in zone 1 or 1 bis;
-
€905 if you live in zone 2;
-
€878 if you live in zone 3.
You can find all income ceilings, based on household composition and the municipality where your home is located, in our practical guide Rent for social housing (section 'Under what conditions can one receive a solidarity rent reduction').
What steps should be taken to benefit from the RLS?
If you are eligible for the solidarity rent reduction, you do not need to take any action.
-
If you receive benefits from the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) or the Agricultural Social Mutual Fund (MSA): your APL and RLS amounts are calculated automatically and transmitted to your landlord.
-
If you do not receive benefits: your landlord calculates your RLS based on the information you provided for the application of the solidarity rent supplement (income tax notice or non-taxation notice, etc.).
If you benefit from the solidarity rent reduction, your landlord must indicate this on your rent receipt.
