The solidarity income (RSO), an allowance for people residing in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion, and the collectivities of Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, is revalued annually. The decree of August 18, 2026, proceeds with the annual revaluation of the solidarity income (RSO).
The monthly amount of the solidarity income (RSO) is set at 613.78 € (previously 608.91 €).
The revaluation applies from the allocations due for the month of April 2026.
What is the Solidarity Income (RSO)?
The solidarity income is a social benefit established in 2001 and specific to the overseas departments and collectivities (except Mayotte). This financial aid is intended for seniors who are unemployed and have not yet reached the age to retire, and who commit to leaving the labor market permanently.
The conditions to receive the solidarity income are as follows:
- Having benefited from the minimum income of insertion or the active solidarity income continuously for at least two years without having exercised any professional activity;
- Living in the territory or collectivity of overseas: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Réunion, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon;
- Being at least 55 years old and under 65 years old;
- Not being a beneficiary of at least one of these other benefits: the disabled adult allowance (AAH), the pension for old workers, the special allowance, the additional allowance of the solidarity fund for old age or disability, the mother's allowance, the disability pension of 2nd or 3rd category, the full-rate retirement pension.
The amount of the solidarity income
The amount of the solidarity income varies according to the resources and the family situation of the applicant. The RSO is a differential allowance: when the family resources are below the applicable ceiling, its amount corresponds to the difference between this ceiling and the monthly family resources. Its maximum amount is set at 613.78 € per month. Only one allowance is paid per family.
The family resources (calculated on the year 2025, divided by 12) must not exceed:
-
1,090.88 € if you live alone;
-
1,714.24 € if you live as a couple.
If you are eligible for the solidarity income, you just need to apply for it at your local Family Allowance Fund office, in the department or collectivity of overseas where you reside. You can make your application online via your personal space caf.fr. Documents such as: identity and residence proofs; family income statements; proof of receipt of RSA; declaration of cessation of activity will be required.
Once your application is accepted, the payment of the solidarity income begins the following month.
Is a single person with 6,000 € of income in 2025 eligible for the overseas solidarity income (RSO)? With an average monthly income of 500 €, they can benefit from it with a differential amount: 1,090.88 € - 500 € = 590.88 € of monthly RSO.
You can benefit from the solidarity income until retirement if you are between 55 and 65 years old. The payment of the allowance ends your rights to the RSA.
