You have just arrived in France and need to organise your journeys: classes, work, appointments. Before choosing a subscription, ask yourself two questions: which pass matches your situation, and what procedure should you prepare with your employer?

The section on prices applies only to Île-de-France.

Start with your work situation

If you work in the private sector and use public transport to get to work, you are entitled by law to partial reimbursement of these costs, including if you work part-time or as an intern.

Here are the types of subscription cards to distinguish before preparing your request:

  • Annual, monthly or weekly subscription cards are covered by the employer.
  • Single tickets are not reimbursed.

The reimbursement can cover several separate subscriptions needed for the entire journey between your usual residence and your workplace.

Tip: describe your home-to-work journey and your working hours in your request, rather than just giving the name of your pass.

Understanding the basis for reimbursement and part-time work

In the general case for the private sector, the reimbursement is 50% of the 2nd class fare, based on the shortest route.

If the ticket used covers a longer route than the shortest one, the reimbursement is calculated on the subscription that strictly allows you to make the shortest journey.

The employer may decide to reimburse more than 50% of the subscription cost.

  • For part-time work, if your working hours are at least 50% of the legal or contractual weekly hours, the reimbursement applies as for a full-time employee.
  • If your working hours are less than 50% of the legal or contractual weekly hours, the reimbursement is proportional to your hours worked compared to half of the full-time working hours.

Presenting supporting documents to your employer

To obtain the reimbursement, you must provide or show your subscription pass; this pass must be valid and allow you to be identified.

If you are a temporary worker, a sworn statement addressed to the temporary employment agency is sufficient to qualify for reimbursement of a subscription to a public passenger transport service or a public bike rental service.

A collective agreement may provide for different methods of proof or reimbursement.

Annual subscriptions are reimbursed monthly during their period of use.

The amount of the transport reimbursement must appear on your payslip.

Tip: keep a copy of what you submit and check the corresponding line on your payslip.

The Navigo Mois all-zones pass, from zones 1 to 5, costs €90.80 per month, at the rate applicable on 1 January 2026.

Navigo Mois covers a full calendar month, from the 1st to the last day, not 30 days from the date of purchase.

You can load the pass for the following month starting from the 20th of the current month.
