Closure of Lyon Station from April 30 to May 3: disruptions to expect Published on April 22, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
Are you planning to take advantage of the May 1 bridge to travel or go away for the weekend? Be cautious: major disruptions are expected due to the exceptional closure of Lyon Station, related to modernization work on the signaling systems. It is recommended to plan your travels in advance and check your routes before traveling.

From the evening of Thursday, April 30 (starting at 8:30 PM) to midday on Sunday, May 3, SNCF Réseau will undertake extensive work to replace and modernize signaling systems. During this period, Lyon Station will be closed, meaning no trains will depart from or arrive at this station. This notably affects TGV INOUI and Lyria.
Impact on rail traffic in Île-de-France
The work also affects the lines used by Île-de-France commuters:
-
The RER D is interrupted on several sections, particularly in Paris and towards the south of Île-de-France;
-
The R line (Transilien) will not operate between Paris and Melun for the entire duration of the closure.
These interruptions are due to the direct dependence of these lines on the technical installations located at Lyon Station. Two signaling systems dating from the 1980s and 1990s will be replaced by new-generation computerized systems to provide greater reliability and punctuality on the RER D and R line, major axes of the Île-de-France network currently being modernized.
To assist you in your travels
Before traveling, check the real-time traffic status; prioritize, when possible, alternative schedules or routes.
You can consult the following sites: Île-de-France Mobilités, transilien.com, SNCF Connect, Bonjour RATP. Route and schedule calculators are available 30 days in advance.
The RATP Traffic Info and Ongoing Works pages allow you to follow the evolution of disruptions and adapt your journeys.
