Heat Pumps: Criteria for the 'Heat Boost' Grant Have Changed Published on September 2, 2026 - Service Public / Directorate of Legal and Administrative Information (Prime Minister)
The 'Heat Boost' grant is a financial aid allowing homeowners and tenants to replace their heating system with a more energy-efficient installation. The conditions for benefiting from this grant for the installation of a heat pump or a combined solar system have changed as of September 1. Service Public presents the new criteria.

The 'Heat Boost' grant allows you to finance the replacement of a gas, coal, or oil boiler with a more energy-efficient installation. Thus, you can use this financial aid to install, for example:

a combined solar system (a system combining a solar panel and a storage tank).
Since September 1, 2026, regarding the installation of a heat pump, the grant can only be awarded if the chosen model has received state approval. This approval is granted to heat pump models that have:

obtained a European certification, guaranteeing their quality;

been manufactured in the European Economic Area (EEA) (for monoblock heat pumps, the final assembly of the refrigerant circuit must have taken place within the EEA; and for split heat pumps, which consist of at least two separate units, the final assembly of at least one sub-assembly of the refrigerant circuit must have taken place within the EEA).
The list of approved heat pump models has been set by an order dated July 2, 2026.
Furthermore, since September 1, regarding the installation of a combined solar system, the 'Heat Boost' grant is conditional on the complete decarbonization of the heating and/or hot water system after the work is completed. In other words, the work carried out must not lead to the installation or retention of a heating and/or hot water system incorporating at least one piece of equipment that uses fossil fuels.
The 'Heat Boost' grant is aimed at homeowners and tenants of a property built more than two years ago (if you are a tenant, your landlord must authorize the work you wish to undertake).
Its amount is not fixed. It depends on several criteria (the nature of the work to be carried out, your income level, etc.).
If you are eligible, you must contact an organization that has signed the 'Heat Boost' charter to benefit from the grant. You can find the list of signatory companies on the Ministry of Ecological Transition website.
